Chlorine and Eczema Chlorine in bathing water can be very harsh for sensitive skin, making it even more dry and irritated. Many people with eczema and skin disorders cannot swim in swimming pools for this reason. Chlorine is used in our water to disinfect and kill bacteria to make it safe to drink. Unfortunately chlorine’s attraction to and corrosion of organic matter does not end at the bacteria in the water. It will also attach to your hair, skin and lungs as they are all organic. Studies have shown that for health reasons it is best to remove chlorine from drinking water and from the water used for bathing and showers. |
